What we do with your data — and what we don’t do
This Privacy Policy explains how Quizstorm Ltd collects, uses, stores and protects information in connection with the Quizstorm® website, Quizstorm® software products, and Quizstorm® mobile apps, including the Quizstorm® Master Controller app and the Quizstorm® Keypad app.
Quizstorm® is designed as a professional live entertainment system. The Quizstorm® mobile apps are designed to connect to a local Quizstorm® Server and Quizstorm® Engine operated by the user, venue, entertainer or event organiser.
We do not sell users’ personal data. We do not use the Quizstorm® mobile apps for advertising, marketing tracking, analytics profiling, or the collection of financial information, messages, existing photos, existing videos, documents, contacts, health data or location data.
The Quizstorm® mobile apps or included platform components may process device or app identifiers where required for app functionality, compatibility, security or platform operation. These identifiers are not used by Quizstorm Ltd for advertising, marketing or cross-app tracking.
Information collected through our website
When users visit https://quizstorm.app or contact us through the website, we may collect information that users voluntarily provide, such as:
- name;
- email address;
- company or organisation name;
- enquiry details;
- information provided when requesting support, downloads, updates, licensing information or product information.
We may also collect basic technical information relating to website use, such as browser type, device type, operating system, approximate connection information and website usage information. This may be collected through normal website server logs, cookies or similar technologies.
Information processed by the Quizstorm® Master Controller app
The Quizstorm® Master Controller app is designed to allow authorised users, presenters, venues, entertainers and event operators to control a local Quizstorm® Server and Quizstorm® Engine.
To use the app, the user may enter local connection details and local login credentials, such as a username and password, created within the Quizstorm® Server software. These credentials are not created by Quizstorm Ltd, are not known to Quizstorm Ltd, and are not sent to Quizstorm Ltd.
When the app is used, it may transmit the following data from the mobile device to the user’s local Quizstorm® Server:
- local username or login ID;
- local password or authentication details;
- controller commands and app interactions, such as button presses, navigation commands, trigger commands, or commands that emulate keyboard controls such as the space bar;
- device or app identifiers where required for app functionality, compatibility, security or platform operation.
This data is used only to allow the Quizstorm® Master Controller app to connect to and control the local Quizstorm® Server and Quizstorm® Engine.
The Quizstorm® Master Controller app does not transmit local login credentials or controller commands to Quizstorm Ltd, Google, Apple, advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or any third-party server.
Information processed by the Quizstorm® Keypad app
The Quizstorm® Keypad app is designed to allow players or teams to participate in a live Quizstorm® event by connecting to the local Quizstorm® Server operated by the venue, entertainer or event organiser.
When the Quizstorm® Keypad app is used, it may transmit live game information from the mobile device to the local Quizstorm® Server, such as:
- player names, team names or nicknames entered for the live event;
- keypad selections;
- answer choices;
- buzzer actions or response actions;
- other live game interactions required to participate in the quiz;
- device or app identifiers where required for app functionality, compatibility, security or platform operation.
This data is used only for live event functionality, such as identifying teams, receiving answers, displaying scores, operating rounds and running the live Quizstorm® event.
The Quizstorm® Keypad app does not transmit player names, team names, answer choices, scores or live game interactions to Quizstorm Ltd, Google, Apple, advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or any third-party server.
Screenshots and photo library access
The Quizstorm® Keypad app may offer a feature that allows users to save or share a screenshot of the final results screen or other end-of-game information.
Where this feature is used, the app may request permission to save an image to the user’s device photo library, gallery or media storage. The image is generated from the Quizstorm® app screen and may include information shown during the live event, such as player names, team names, scores, rankings or final results.
Quizstorm Ltd does not receive, upload, store or access these screenshots. The screenshot is saved locally on the user’s own device unless the user chooses to share it using their device’s sharing options.
If a user chooses to share a screenshot through another app or service, such as email, messaging, social media or cloud storage, that sharing is controlled by the user and is subject to the privacy practices of the chosen third-party app or service.
The Quizstorm® mobile apps do not access, upload or transmit existing photos or videos from the user’s device photo library to Quizstorm Ltd.
Local network access and security
The Quizstorm® mobile apps communicate with the user’s local Quizstorm® Server over the user’s own local network.
The apps may request local network access in order to connect to the Quizstorm® Server. This access is used only for local communication between the mobile device and the Quizstorm® Server.
At present, data transmitted between the Quizstorm® mobile apps and the local Quizstorm® Server may not be encrypted in transit. Users should therefore operate the Quizstorm® system only on trusted private networks and should avoid using public or untrusted Wi-Fi networks for live operation.
Users are responsible for securing their own local network, devices, PC, Quizstorm® Server installation, Quizstorm® Engine installation and local login credentials.
App accounts and local credentials
The Quizstorm® mobile apps do not allow users to create an online account with Quizstorm Ltd.
Any username or password used by the Quizstorm® Master Controller app is a local credential configured by the user, venue, event organiser or administrator within their own Quizstorm® Server software. These local credentials are used only for connection and authentication with the local Quizstorm® Server.
Quizstorm Ltd cannot view, recover, reset or delete these local credentials unless a user separately provides access to their own Quizstorm® installation for support purposes.
How we use collected information
Quizstorm Ltd may use information collected through the website, support channels, product enquiries, licensing enquiries or customer communications for the following purposes:
- to respond to enquiries and support requests;
- to provide product information, software updates, download information or licensing information;
- to manage customer relationships and licensing;
- to provide technical support;
- to improve our website, software, products and services;
- to protect the security and integrity of our systems;
- to comply with legal, accounting, tax, security or contractual obligations.
The Quizstorm® mobile apps use local credentials, team names, player names, keypad selections, answer choices, controller commands, device or app identifiers and app interactions only for app functionality, platform operation and local event operation with the user’s own Quizstorm® Server.
What we do not collect through the Quizstorm® mobile apps
The Quizstorm® mobile apps do not transmit the following data to Quizstorm Ltd:
- local usernames or passwords entered into the Quizstorm® Master Controller app;
- player names, team names or nicknames entered into the Quizstorm® Keypad app;
- answer choices, keypad selections, scores or controller commands;
- payment information;
- purchase history;
- emails, SMS messages or other user messages;
- existing photos or videos from the user’s device photo library;
- files or documents;
- installed apps;
- crash logs or diagnostics for analytics purposes;
- advertising IDs or other device identifiers for advertising, marketing or cross-app tracking;
- location data;
- health data;
- contacts;
- financial information.
Any local usernames, passwords, player names, team names, answer choices, scores, controller commands or game interactions are transmitted only to the local Quizstorm® Server operated by the user, venue, entertainer or event organiser.
Device and app identifiers
The Quizstorm® mobile apps or included platform components may process device or app identifiers where required for app functionality, compatibility, security or platform operation.
These identifiers may be used to allow the app to function correctly on the user’s device, communicate with the local Quizstorm® Server, maintain compatibility with the operating system, or support platform-level operation.
Quizstorm Ltd does not use device or app identifiers for advertising, marketing, analytics profiling, data brokerage or cross-app tracking.
Sharing personal information
We do not sell, trade or rent users’ personal identification information.
We may share information only where necessary with trusted service providers who help us operate our business, website, support systems, hosting, email communications, licensing systems or customer communications. These providers may only use the information for the limited purpose of providing services to us.
We may also disclose information where required by law, regulation, legal process, contractual obligation, or where necessary to protect our rights, users, systems or business.
The Quizstorm® mobile apps do not share local credentials, player names, team names, answer choices, scores, controller commands or live game interactions with third parties.
Cookies
Our website may use cookies or similar technologies to improve user experience, operate the website, remember preferences, analyse website performance, or support security.
Users may configure their browser to refuse cookies or to alert them when cookies are being used. Some parts of the website may not function properly if cookies are disabled.
Data retention and deletion
We retain personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law, tax, accounting, contractual or security obligations.
Users may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information held by Quizstorm Ltd by contacting us at support@quizstorm.app.
The Quizstorm® mobile apps do not create a cloud account with Quizstorm Ltd. Local credentials, player names, team names, scores, answer choices, game interactions and local Quizstorm® Server data are controlled by the user, venue, entertainer or event organiser who operates the Quizstorm® Server.
Controller commands and live game interactions transmitted from the Quizstorm® mobile apps to the local Quizstorm® Server are used for real-time app functionality and are not sent to Quizstorm Ltd.
Screenshots saved by users are stored locally on the user’s own device unless the user chooses to share them through another app or service.
Security
We adopt appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or destruction.
Data exchanged between users and the Quizstorm® website may be protected using SSL/TLS where available.
The Quizstorm® mobile apps communicate with the user’s own local Quizstorm® Server. Users are responsible for securing their own local network, device access, PC, Quizstorm® Server installation, Quizstorm® Engine installation and local credentials.
User rights
Depending on where you are located, you may have rights in relation to your personal information, including the right to:
- request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate information;
- request deletion of personal information;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- request data portability where applicable;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Legal basis for processing
Where applicable, we process personal information under one or more of the following legal bases:

Children’s privacy
The Quizstorm® Master Controller app is intended for use by event organisers, presenters, venues, entertainers and authorised operators. It is not directed at children.
The Quizstorm® Keypad app may be used by players at live events, including events where children may participate under the supervision of a venue, entertainer, event organiser, parent, guardian or responsible adult.
Quizstorm Ltd does not knowingly collect personal information from children through the Quizstorm® mobile apps or the Quizstorm® website. The Quizstorm® mobile apps do not transmit player names, team names, answer choices, scores or live game interactions to Quizstorm Ltd. Such information is used only with the local Quizstorm® Server operated by the user, venue, entertainer or event organiser.
If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child without appropriate consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
Third-party websites
Our website may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the content, security or privacy practices of those third-party websites or services. Users should review the privacy policies of any third-party sites they visit.
Data breach notification
In the event of a data breach affecting personal information held by Quizstorm Ltd, we will take appropriate action and notify affected users or relevant authorities where required by applicable law.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
Quizstorm Ltd may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we may update the “Last updated” date above or post a notice on our website.
Continued use of the website, products or apps after changes are posted will be treated as acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
